Winterizing your RV camper

is essential to protect it from the harsh winter conditions. Here are the steps to ensure your RV is ready for the cold:

  1. Drain Water Systems: Empty all tanks, including fresh, grey, and black water tanks. Open low point drains and use compressed air to blow out any remaining water1.
  2. Bypass Water Heater: Install a water heater bypass kit if your RV doesn’t have one. This prevents antifreeze from filling the heater tank, saving you gallons of antifreeze1.
  3. Add Antifreeze: Use non-toxic RV antifreeze to fill the plumbing system. Pump it through all faucets, shower heads, and toilets until you see the antifreeze coming out1.
  4. Seal Openings: Check for any openings where pests could enter and seal them. Use silicone or expanding foam for larger gaps1.
  5. Protect Against Humidity: Place desiccant containers or humidity absorbers inside the RV to prevent mold and mildew growth1.
  6. Remove Batteries: Disconnect and store batteries in a cool, dry place to prevent freezing and extend their life1.
  7. Cover Vents: Install covers over vents to keep out insects and small animals1.
  8. RV Covers: Use a breathable RV cover to protect the exterior from snow, ice, and debris1.
  9. Tire Care: Inflate tires to the recommended pressure and cover them to protect from UV damage1.
  10. Lubricate Joints: Apply lubricant to hinges and locks to prevent them from seizing up in the cold1.

By following these steps, you can rest assured that your RV camper will be safeguarded against the winter elements and ready for your next adventure1.

When planning your campground Halloween decorations, consider a few factors. Campgrounds host guests of all ages, and little kids might get scared. If your decorations look too haunting or frightening, consider opting for a more family-friendly route instead. Follow these tips to have fun and decorate your site responsibly:

  • Make sure you clean up: Clean up any trash or residue around your campsite. Make sure you don’t leave any googly eyes, streamers, fake spider webs, pumpkins, bats or other decorations behind.
  • Use eco-friendly materials: Consider using sustainable items or what you already have turned into upcycled crafts if possible. Opt for reusable party supplies instead of disposable plastic to reduce waste.
  • Respect the campground rules: Follow camp guidelines to ensure a safe and comfortable stay. Respecting the rules throughout the festivities protects campers and nature.

Fall Message to Seasonal Campers

fall message to seasonal campers skeleton pirate

Hello Campers,

Fall is upon us and while it is sad to think about the end of the season there is still time to get in a few more family campfires and make some more happy memories.

For Halloween entertainment on Saturday October 9th starting at 7pm we are going to have a trunk or treat candy handout at the safari field followed by a guided golf cart parade throughout most of the campground to view the decorated sites.

Also the camp shall be serving Hot coffee or hot and cold cider and mini donut refreshment.

This year there shall be two sets of prizes for both best decorated site as well as best decorated golf cart.
With
$ 500.00 for first prize,
$250.00 for second, and
$100.00 for third.
So do your best and get into the spirit of Halloween.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Rain date shall be Sunday October 10

Please understand that I like to keep these messages upbeat but I do have to take up the subject of increases.

The cost of everything as all of you have experienced has gone up and I feel I have no choice but to keep up.

Some of you will be faced with an extra scoop and that is because you either neglected to pay some fee or gave night security a hard time etc.

Due to assessment changes the waterfront areas will feel most of it.

In life’s experiences I have discovered that things are either relative or there is a penalty and there is simply no way around it.

I believe that in the end that camping and especially Bowdish is overall a good value and hope you will continue with it.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

John

Fourth of July Weekend 2021

Hello Campers ,

Happy 4th of July!

July 4th weekend is upon us and unfortunately it’s just like Memorial Day Weekend, weather-wise, so try to make the best of it.

Most activities will go on as scheduled.  The Boat Parade and Fireworks may be delayed a day, so check with the office on the day events are scheduled.  Check the website or pick up a flyer in the office.

There is a utility issue I need to pass along to some of you.  For the past two weeks some of you have noticed low water pressure in certain areas of the park.  We apologize for this and are doing our best to fix it.  We have isolated the affected area, unfortunately we have been unable thus far to locate the leak.  Some of you may be without water until the leak is found and repaired.  Those sites affected are Red 1-40 and Green 31-36.

Again, we apologize for this and will keep you updated on repair progress.

Think positive!  The sun will eventually shine.

Have a Happy 4th!

John

Fourth Of July 2020

Hi everyone ,

Happy 4th of July!

We had a rough week weather-wise with quarter-size hail and heavy rain so even though it’s hard at times keep smiling and tell yourself that better days are ahead.

As part of phase three of opening we are opening the Beach Rec Hall with Wi Fi under the password “sugarbeach”.  I have shifted a lot of the soft drinks, candy and ice cream down there so that is where to send the kids.

The limit is fifteen total in the building, no large groups and
EVERYBODY MUST WEAR A FACE COVERING. NO EXCEPTIONS!

GOLF CART PARADE  – SATURDAY AT 1 PM – MEET AT SAFARI FIELD

Also there is a Boat Parade Saturday night at 8pm.

Line up in the lake area off second beach and join in or watch from shore.

Afterwards there there will be fireworks at first beach.

Fourth of July 2020 fireworksThere can be no fireworks in the campground wooded areas!
Saturday night after eleven pm that should be the end of fireworks altogether for the 4th of July.

Fathers Day Weekend 2020

Fathers Day Weekend 2020

Hi everyone,

Hope you are enjoying Summer! I understand it’s about to get really HOT!

Anyway, I want to start off by apologizing to any of you who were affected by the rowdy behavior in orange 33 last Sunday night. All I can say is that when they checked in, they seemed O.K.  And it only goes to show you that you can’t always tell how they will really act.  These people will certainly not be allowed to return.

On a positive note I wanted to convey that as part of our ongoing opening up,

the Craft House will open this weekend from 10 am to 2 pm .

You will, however not be allowed inside. Craft projects will be on display through the window and sold through a slot in the door. Masks and rubber gloves must be worn at all times, tables will be spaced 6 feet apart and we would ask one family per table.  If it should happen that there aren’t enough tables, please either wait a safe distance or return a little later when a table opens up .

Remember this is Fathers Day Weekend so be extra kind to them (including me!) and get your tickets early for the big breakfast.

John
